My name is Stewart Burnett. I’m a photographer, videographer, journalist, and communications professional who has spent far longer than I thought I would in Canada’s North.

Most importantly, I’m committed to living a positive life and doing my honest best for myself and everyone around me..

I’m happy and grateful to be alive.

I’ve reported for a dozen newspapers from B.C. to NWT and Nunavut; wrote and managed Tusaayaksat Magazine in Inuvik; photographed and advised politicians as part of the Yukon Liberal Caucus; managed communications in beautiful Carcross for the Carcross/Tagish First Nation; circled back to journalism for a unique opportunity as the bureau chief of the Kivalliq region in Nunavut; and currently run municipal communications for the Town of Peace River in Alberta.

Besides day jobs, I’ve also executed a range of video, photo and communications work for organizations such as Nunavut Arctic College, Parks Canada, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc., Yukon University, the Kivalliq Trade Show Society, Northern Energy Capital, Mercer International, Up Here Magazine, and many more.

P.S. I love rocks. I fell in love with Dallasite, a type of jasper unique to Vancouver Island, in 2013. I was sitting on a beach feeling depressed and suddenly realized what magnificent colourful stones were around me. I wear a piece of Dallasite around my neck almost all the time now. That rock saved me.
